Saul Pacheco, a former paratrooper and long-time track and field starter, is set to retire after 49 years of service. Pacheco, who turns 88 in November, began his career as a track starter in 1977 after serving in the 82nd Airborne Division and working
as a teacher and coach. Over the years, he has become a respected figure in the track and field community, particularly for his role at the Arcadia Invitational, where he served as a starter for 25 years and later as a meet referee. Pacheco's contributions to sports will be recognized with his induction into the Carson Hall of Fame this fall.
