What's Happening?
The GE Aerospace Foundation has announced the launch of its 'Lifting Futures' workforce training program, aimed at training 10,000 workers by 2030 to address the manufacturing skills gap. The program, with a $30 million investment, will initially focus
on five communities: Auburn, Alabama; the Cincinnati-Dayton region in Ohio; Dallas, Texas; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Wrocław, Poland. The initiative seeks to enhance advanced manufacturing skills through community-based programs, emphasizing reducing barriers to entry, expanding training capacity, and increasing student resources to improve graduation and job placement rates.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is crucial for addressing the growing demand for skilled workers in the aerospace and manufacturing industries, which are vital sectors for economic growth and technological advancement. By investing in workforce development, GE Aerospace is not only helping to fill the skills gap but also contributing to economic stability and job creation in the selected communities.
