What's Happening?
REWE Group in Germany is testing self-driving vehicles for grocery delivery in a pilot project in Bochum. Partnering with Swiss technology company Loxo, the project involves using a VW ID. Buzz equipped
with Loxo's Digital Driver software, operating at level 4 of autonomous driving capability. Despite the vehicle's autonomous capabilities, a safety driver will be present on each journey to ensure customer safety. The pilot aims to integrate these vehicles into REWE's existing delivery infrastructure, with the goal of gaining experience and exploring the potential of autonomous driving in urban delivery settings.
