A new documentary titled 'Eddie Palmieri: Sweet Sweet Sugar' is in production, focusing on the life and legacy of Grammy-winning pianist and bandleader Eddie Palmieri. Directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker
Omar Acosta, the film will explore Palmieri's influence on salsa and Latin jazz, featuring access to his entire music catalogue and rare archival footage. The documentary is produced in collaboration with the Eddie Palmieri Estate, with Eddie Palmieri II and Zoilo R. Torres as executive producers. Set against the backdrop of Spanish Harlem and the Bronx, the film will trace Palmieri's role in transforming Latin music from ballroom dance to salsa dura, highlighting his contributions to the cultural and musical landscape of New York from the 1950s to the 1980s.
