What's Happening?
The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is bringing back its 'Taste of the Arts' dining series for the 2026-27 season following a successful run in the previous year. This program combines a multi-course dinner at a local Orange County restaurant with a performance,
aiming to encourage patrons to explore new dining experiences and diverse performances. The series will feature six nights of events, starting on September 19 with a performance by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, paired with a dinner at Calo Kitchen + Tequila. Other notable pairings include the Tony-winning musical 'The Outsiders' with Antonello Ristorante, a cabaret show with Tituss Burgess at Morton’s the Steakhouse, and a romantic evening with the Takács Quartet at Paradise Dynasty. The series will also feature performances by the American Ballet Theatre and a special one-night-only show by Broadway star Jessica Vosk. Subscriptions for the series are priced at $1,350 and are currently available for purchase.
Why It's Important?
The revival of the 'Taste of the Arts' series is significant as it not only enhances the cultural offerings of the Segerstrom Center but also supports local businesses by driving traffic to participating restaurants. This initiative reflects a growing trend of integrating dining with cultural experiences, which can attract a broader audience to the arts. By offering a unique combination of culinary and artistic experiences, the Segerstrom Center is likely to increase its patronage and strengthen its role as a cultural hub in Orange County. Additionally, the series provides an economic boost to the local hospitality industry, which benefits from the increased exposure and patronage.
What's Next?
As the series progresses, it is expected that the Segerstrom Center will continue to explore innovative ways to engage audiences and support local businesses. The success of this series could inspire similar initiatives in other cultural institutions, potentially leading to a broader trend of integrating dining and entertainment. Stakeholders, including local restaurants and cultural organizations, may collaborate more closely to create synergistic experiences that enhance the appeal of both sectors. The response from patrons and the community will likely influence future programming decisions at the Segerstrom Center.
