Hon Hai Technology Group, known as Foxconn, has launched the 'Global Nature-based Solutions Initiative and Transnational Cooperation Plan' to advance its sustainability goals. This initiative was announced at the company's first 'Global Nature-based Solutions Summit'
in Hanoi, Vietnam. The plan aims to lead the value chain towards net-zero carbon emissions and nature-positive outcomes. The first phase involves collaboration with Vietnam's Quang Ninh Provincial Government, the Hanoi University of Science, and Natures Bank. Foxconn's Chief Environmental Officer, Ron Horng, emphasized the initiative's focus on mutual benefit and breaking down knowledge silos to transform sustainable actions into ecological contributions. A key project under this initiative is the 'Mangrove Restoration and Water Replenishment Research Project' in Quang Ninh Province, which uses AI technology to enhance carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

Foxconn plans to launch at least one environmental and ecological restoration action annually in its major production regions through 2030. The company aims to achieve a global total of 80,000 cumulative volunteer hours each year. Additionally, Foxconn will conduct biodiversity dependence and impact assessments in key areas within the next five years, incorporating related risks into its management strategies. The company will also launch a website to provide updates on the progress of various nature-based solutions projects, enhancing transparency and encouraging broader participation from supply chain partners.
