Spotify has announced the launch of a new AI tool designed for self-publishing audiobooks, integrated within its 'Spotify for Authors' platform. This tool utilizes speech synthesis technology developed by ElevenLabs, a company specializing in AI voice
technology. The English version of this tool is set to be released as an invitation-only beta in select regions by June 2026. This development follows Spotify's partnership with ElevenLabs in February 2025, which enabled the distribution of audiobooks narrated using AI voice technology. Authors can now download file packages from ElevenLabs and use Spotify's audiobook distribution service, Findaway Voices, to publish their works. The platform is also set to expand to support ten additional languages, broadening its reach. Spotify's Audiobook+ plan has already attracted over 1 million subscribers, with an expected annual recurring revenue of $100 million.
