What's Happening?
The Television Academy has announced the recipients of its 19th Honors, recognizing programs that leverage television's power to raise awareness about societal issues. The honorees include 'Heated Rivalry',
'Adolescence', 'Dying For Sex', 'South Park', 'Deaf President Now!', and 'Seen & Heard: The History of Black Television'. These programs address topics such as social media's impact, disability rights, end-of-life caregiving, Black history, political extremism, and LGBTQ+ representation. The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 20 at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center. The selection committee, co-chaired by Bobbi Banks and Howard Meltzer, emphasized the importance of storytelling in sparking dialogue and encouraging empathy.
