Penguin Young Readers is set to release its first three titles under a new licensing agreement with Melissa & Doug, a well-known preschool toy brand. The collaboration was initiated by Cecily Kaiser, VP and publisher of the RISE x Penguin Workshop imprint,
who observed her children using picture books in imaginative play. This led to the creation of 'The Toy Kitchen Cookbook,' a photo-illustrated book featuring recipes made with real toys. Chef Sohui Kim was brought on board to develop the recipes. The partnership aims to integrate Melissa & Doug's play food into the book, enhancing the creative and educational experience for children. The initial book list, debuting on October 13, includes 'The Toy Kitchen Cookbook' and two novelty board books designed to engage young readers through interactive play. This collaboration marks a significant step in expanding Melissa & Doug's presence in the publishing industry, aligning with their mission to promote creativity and developmental learning.
