What's Happening?
Julie Kegels, an LVMH Prize semi-finalist, presented her Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection, inspired by the concept of aura and perception. Drawing from Andy Warhol's philosophy, Kegels explored how clothing can alter perception and shield one's true
self. The collection featured darker palettes and protective silhouettes, with innovative designs that manipulated shadows to create illusions of confidence and presence. Kegels incorporated elements like rounded jacket sleeves and asymmetrical collars to distort traditional forms, emphasizing the interplay between appearance and reality.
Why It's Important?
Kegels' collection reflects a broader trend in fashion towards exploring identity and perception through clothing. By challenging traditional silhouettes and incorporating elements of illusion, the collection pushes the boundaries of fashion design. This approach resonates with contemporary themes of self-expression and individuality, appealing to consumers seeking unique and meaningful fashion choices. The collection's emphasis on aura and perception also highlights the role of fashion as a medium for personal storytelling and cultural commentary.
