What's Happening?
Legacy Gold Mines has announced its 2026 surface exploration program at the Baner Gold Mine Project in Idaho, USA. The company plans to conduct approximately 20,000 feet of drilling, building on the results from 2025. These previous results included significant
gold intercepts, such as 0.59 grams per tonne over 71.6 meters and 0.50 grams per tonne over 108.2 meters. The exploration will target the Main Zone and new regional targets, with an initial exploration target identified at Baner ranging from 50.3 million to 55.3 million tonnes at grades between 0.72 and 0.91 grams per tonne gold. CEO Brian Hinchcliffe stated that drilling contractors are being finalized for both reverse circulation and core drilling programs, with work expected to commence in the second quarter of 2026, pending permitting.
Why It's Important?
The drilling campaign at the Baner Gold Mine is significant for Legacy Gold as it aims to better understand the potential scale of gold mineralization in the area. This exploration could lead to the definition of a mineral resource, which would be a substantial development for the company. The project is located within the Orogrande Shear Zone, a region known for its mineralization potential. Successful exploration could enhance Legacy Gold's portfolio and potentially increase its market value. Additionally, the project could contribute to the local economy by creating jobs and stimulating economic activity in Idaho.
What's Next?
Legacy Gold has received confirmation from the US Forest Service that its plan of operations application for the 2026 drill program is complete and will now undergo environmental policy analysis. The company is also preparing to participate in the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention in March 2026, where it will likely discuss its exploration plans and progress. The outcome of the environmental analysis and the commencement of drilling will be critical next steps in advancing the Baner Gold Mine Project.
