What's Happening?
Fox's Red Seat Ventures has signed a multiyear deal with 'Kill Tony', a popular comedy show hosted by Tony Hinchcliffe. This agreement marks a significant expansion into stand-up comedy and live entertainment for Red Seat Ventures, which is part of Fox's Tubi
Media Group. The deal involves handling advertising sales for 'Kill Tony' across video and audio platforms, and distributing the show on Fox's streaming services, Tubi and Fox One. An ad-free version will also be available on Red Seat's podcast subscription platform, Supercast. 'Kill Tony', filmed at Joe Rogan's Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, combines stand-up, improv, and comedy roasts, featuring Hinchcliffe and guest comedians. The show has previously secured a deal with Netflix to stream specials.
Why It's Important?
This partnership represents a strategic move by Fox to diversify its content offerings and strengthen its position in the digital streaming market. By incorporating 'Kill Tony', Fox aims to attract a broader audience interested in comedy, potentially increasing viewership and advertising revenue. The deal also highlights the growing trend of media companies investing in live entertainment and podcasting as a means to engage audiences and monetize content. For Tony Hinchcliffe, this partnership provides an opportunity to expand his show's reach and capitalize on Fox's extensive distribution network.
