Michael Taaffe, a former walk-on for the Texas Longhorns, has completed a remarkable college football career and is now attending the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Taaffe, who hails from Austin, Texas, and attended Westlake High School, initially joined
the Longhorns as a walk-on. Despite limited recruitment options, he turned down other opportunities to fulfill his dream of playing for Texas. Over his college career, Taaffe became a two-time All-American and a key player for the Longhorns, starting nine games during their 2023 College Football Playoff run and becoming a full-time starter in 2024. He concluded his college career with impressive statistics, including 222 tackles and seven interceptions. Taaffe was also a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the nation's most outstanding walk-on, and won the Wuerffel Trophy for his community service efforts.
