Taber, Alberta has been announced as the winner of Kraft Hockeyville 2026, a competition organized by Kraft Heinz in partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA). The town will receive $250,000
for rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL Pre-Season game in 2027. The runner-up, Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, will receive $100,000 for rink improvements. Both communities, along with 11 other finalists, will also receive $10,000 in new hockey equipment from NHLPA Goals & Dreams and the NHL/NHLPA Industry Growth Fund. The announcement was made during Sportsnet’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, highlighting Taber's resilience and the central role of its rink in the community, especially after a December 2025 explosion rendered the arena inoperable.
