The Play Ball Foundation, a Massachusetts nonprofit, celebrated its successful partnership with Methuen to bring team sports to middle school students. The foundation focuses on 'high-need communities'
across the state, creating leagues for students to participate in sports during the fall and spring. Since the partnership began two years ago, approximately 1,000 middle school students in Methuen have joined these sports programs. The celebration took place at Methuen High School, where students participated in basketball games. The event was emceed by Michael Raimondi, a Boston 25 News reporter and Methuen High School alumnus. The foundation's Executive Director, Katie Small, emphasized the importance of the program in building confidence and community among students. The event also featured donations from local businesses, including food from Sal’s Pizza and sports gear from New Balance and Franklin.
