What's Happening?
OD6 Metals, a critical minerals explorer and developer, has announced the discovery of high-grade mineralization at its Quinn Fluorspar Project located in Nevada, USA. Initial channel samples from the Mammoth prospect have revealed continuous and high-grade fluorspar
mineralization, with results showing 12 meters at 40.8% calcium fluoride. The company considers these assay results to be reliable and consistent, indicating the project's potential global significance. According to Brett Hazelden, Managing Director of OD6 Metals, the average grade of over 40% calcium fluoride across 12 meters of outcropping breccia fluorspar positions this system among the higher-grade fluorspar deposits globally. The company is now planning further field programs, including detailed geological and structural mapping, soil geochemistry programs, drill targeting, maiden drilling permitting, and metallurgical test work planning.
Why It's Important?
The confirmation of high-grade mineralization at the Quinn Fluorspar Project is significant for the U.S. critical minerals sector, as fluorspar is a vital component in various industrial applications, including the production of aluminum, gasoline, and uranium fuel. The discovery could enhance the domestic supply of fluorspar, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the U.S. economy. Additionally, the project's potential global significance could attract further investment and development in the region, boosting local economies and creating job opportunities. The advancement of this project aligns with broader efforts to secure critical mineral supply chains, which are essential for national security and technological advancement.
What's Next?
OD6 Metals plans to continue its exploration and development activities at the Quinn Fluorspar Project. The company will conduct detailed geological and structural mapping, soil geochemistry programs, and drill targeting to further assess the project's potential. Maiden drilling permitting and metallurgical test work planning are also on the agenda. These steps are crucial for advancing the project towards production, which could significantly impact the U.S. fluorspar market. Stakeholders, including investors and local communities, will be closely monitoring the progress of these activities, as successful development could lead to increased economic benefits and strengthened supply chains.
