What's Happening?
The CW has picked up 'Private Eyes West Coast,' a spinoff of the Canadian detective comedy-drama series 'Private Eyes.' The show stars Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson, who reprise their roles as private investigators Matt Shade and Angie Everett. The series follows
the duo as they relocate to the West Coast and become embroiled in a new murder investigation. The ten-part series is produced by Piller/Segan and Lionsgate Canada and is set to air later this year. The show has already been renewed for a second season by Corus Entertainment.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of 'Private Eyes West Coast' by The CW underscores the network's strategy to diversify its programming with international content that has proven successful in other markets. By bringing this spinoff to its lineup, The CW aims to attract fans of the original series and expand its audience base. The show's blend of comedy and drama, along with the established chemistry between its leads, offers a fresh addition to The CW's offerings. For Lionsgate and the Piller/Segan team, this deal provides an opportunity to reach a broader audience and capitalize on the show's existing popularity.
