performance included playing 97% of the team's defensive snaps, recording 80 tackles, five interceptions, and earning his first Pro Bowl selection. This financial reward more than doubles his previous salary of $1.1 million. Wright has since signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets worth up to $5.5 million. The NFL's performance-based pay system, introduced in 2002, has distributed nearly $3.3 billion to players, with a record 25 players receiving over $1 million this season.
