What's Happening?
American West Metals has reported significant findings from its West Desert Project in Utah, where sampling of historical drill core revealed high-grade values of silver, indium, and gallium. The sampling program involved 1,155 samples from 18 drill holes,
targeting unsampled intervals within the West Desert Deposit. The results showed peak values of 1,065 grams per tonne silver, 155g/t indium, and 40.4g/t gallium. The company also identified opportunities to enhance the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) through improved data coverage. The West Desert Deposit hosts a JORC 2012 indicated and inferred MRE of 33.7 million tonnes, including the largest undeveloped indium resource in the U.S. American West has secured a second diamond drill rig to accelerate resource expansion and exploration.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of high-grade critical metals at the West Desert Project is significant for American West Metals and the U.S. mining industry. Indium and gallium are essential for various high-tech applications, including electronics and renewable energy technologies. The presence of these metals, along with silver, zinc, copper, and lead, positions the West Desert Deposit as a valuable resource for future development. This discovery could enhance the U.S.'s supply of critical metals, reducing reliance on imports and supporting domestic industries. The expansion of the Mineral Resource Estimate could attract further investment and boost economic activity in the region.
What's Next?
American West Metals plans to continue its exploration efforts with the newly secured diamond drill rig, focusing on resource expansion and testing high-priority targets. The company is fully funded to complete the proposed expanded program, which includes further geophysical work to accelerate discovery along the mineralized corridor. Assays for additional drill holes are expected in the coming weeks, which could provide further insights into the deposit's potential. The company aims to enhance its Mineral Resource Estimate, potentially leading to increased production capacity and new partnerships in the mining sector.
