What's Happening?
Three U.S. shipyards operated by Fincantieri have been honored by the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) for their outstanding workplace safety performance in 2025. The facilities, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Jacksonville, Florida; and Sturgeon
Bay, Wisconsin, received national recognition under the SCA's annual safety awards program. Fincantieri ACE Marine and Fincantieri Marine Repair were awarded the SCA's Excellence in Safety award, which is given to shipyards that achieve a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) below the industry average. Additionally, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and Fincantieri Marine Repair earned the Improvement in Safety award for reducing their TRIR by at least 10% year over year. Notably, Fincantieri Marine Repair in Jacksonville received its first national safety award, while Fincantieri ACE Marine was one of only three U.S. shipyards to maintain a TRIR below 1.0 in 2025, earning the Significant Safety Achievement award.
Why It's Important?
The recognition of Fincantieri's U.S. shipyards for safety excellence underscores the company's commitment to operational discipline and worker safety in the shipbuilding and repair industry. This achievement not only enhances Fincantieri's reputation but also sets a benchmark for safety standards within the industry. By maintaining low incident rates and improving safety measures, Fincantieri contributes to a safer working environment, which can lead to increased productivity and reduced costs associated with workplace accidents. The awards also highlight the importance of safety in maintaining a competitive edge in the shipbuilding sector, where operational efficiency and worker well-being are critical to success.
What's Next?
Fincantieri's continued focus on safety could lead to further innovations in workplace practices and safety protocols, potentially influencing industry standards. The recognition may encourage other shipyards to adopt similar safety measures, fostering a culture of safety across the industry. Additionally, Fincantieri's achievements could attract more business opportunities and partnerships, as clients and stakeholders often prioritize working with companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
