What's Happening?
Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) has published five peer-reviewed papers detailing the physics basis of its ARC fusion power plant. These papers, appearing in the Journal of Plasma Physics, confirm the scientific foundations that will enable the ARC plant to
deliver 400 megawatts of net electricity. The research, conducted by a team of 58 scientists from leading institutions, validates the design and operational strategy of the ARC tokamak. CFS has also applied to connect its ARC power plant to PJM Interconnection, the largest U.S. electricity market. This development marks a significant step towards commercial fusion energy, with CFS aiming to deliver electricity to the grid by the early 2030s.
