What's Happening?
The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has entered into a partnership with South Korea-based BlueCove Investment to establish a KRW500 billion hospitality investment platform. This venture marks CPPIB's first direct investment in South Korea's
hospitality sector. Under the agreement, CPPIB will hold a 95% stake, while BlueCove will retain the remaining 5%. The platform aims to acquire and reposition hotel assets across Seoul, collaborating with established global hotel operators. The initial pipeline includes two projects located in key tourism districts, with CPPIB committing up to KRW119 billion in seed capital for the platform's first acquisitions. This move builds on CPPIB's growing hospitality exposure in the Asia-Pacific region, following a recent partnership with SC Capital Partners in Japan.
