What's Happening?
Grand Traverse Pie Company, in collaboration with Pure Michigan, has introduced a new dessert called Fresh Coast Pie to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pure Michigan. This specialty pie features Montmorency tart cherries from Sayler Orchards, Northern
Spy apples from Amos Orchards, and Rubel blueberries from True Blue Farms, topped with a Fresh Coast Oat Crumb. The initiative not only highlights Michigan's rich agricultural heritage but also supports early childhood development through the Mi Kids Matter program. The pie is available at all Grand Traverse Pie Company locations and can be shipped across the United States.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration underscores the importance of Michigan's agricultural sector, which is a significant contributor to the state's economy and identity. By promoting local produce, the initiative supports local farmers and highlights Michigan as a top culinary and agritourism destination. Additionally, the partnership with Mi Kids Matter emphasizes the role of community and education in fostering future generations, aligning with broader state goals of economic and social development.
What's Next?
The Fresh Coast Pie will be available from April through September, providing an opportunity for both locals and tourists to experience Michigan's agricultural bounty. The ongoing partnership between Grand Traverse Pie Company, Pure Michigan, and Mi Kids Matter is expected to continue fostering community engagement and support for local agriculture and education initiatives.
