What's Happening?
A modder known as Ionian-MikiriyAKATotallyNotShinobi has created a unique modification for the game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, turning it into a skateboarding simulation called 'Jet Set Sekiro'. This mod allows players to skate around the Fountainhead
Palace, a location from the original game, collecting spray paint canisters to graffiti tag select spots. The mod repurposes Sekiro's animations for skateboarding, creating a new movement system. This crossover is reminiscent of past integrations of skateboarding into other games, such as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 featuring Darth Maul and Spyro 3's skateboarding levels. The mod is available on the Sekiro Nexus and has been showcased on the Mod Server YouTube channel.
Why It's Important?
This mod highlights the creativity and innovation within the gaming community, showcasing how fan modifications can breathe new life into existing games. By blending elements from different gaming genres, such as action and skateboarding, it offers players a fresh experience and demonstrates the versatility of game design. This kind of community-driven content can extend the lifespan of games and engage players in new ways, potentially influencing future game development and encouraging developers to consider more diverse gameplay mechanics.
