Funcom, the developer behind the MMO game Dune: Awakening, has announced significant updates aimed at addressing player concerns and enhancing the gaming experience. The updates include the introduction of self-hosted servers and a shift towards making
player-versus-environment (PvE) content more prominent. This decision comes after observing that over 80% of players prefer engaging with PvE content, prompting the developers to make player-versus-player (PvP) elements more optional. As part of these changes, all PvP zones in the Hagga Basin will be disabled, and players will have the option to choose between PvE and PvP instances in the Deep Desert. The PvE instance will focus on survival and exploration without player combat, while the PvP instance will offer a high-stakes environment with increased rewards. Additionally, the introduction of self-hosted servers will allow players to host private servers with customizable settings, enhancing the game's longevity and community engagement.
