What's Happening?
PALFINGER, an Austrian company, has been awarded a contract to supply davit cranes for five offshore converter platforms in the North Sea. This move is part of Europe's broader efforts to enhance grid infrastructure in support of renewable energy projects.
PALFINGER will deliver seven PF200-7m davit cranes to Dragados Offshore, a Spanish engineering contractor, for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platforms. These platforms are associated with projects for German transmission system operators Amprion and TenneT Germany. The cranes are designed for offshore conditions, offering low weight, high lifting capability, and reduced maintenance needs. Production is set to begin in the first half of 2026, with deliveries extending through the first quarter of 2028. Offshore commissioning is expected to continue until the fourth quarter of 2031. This contract marks PALFINGER's first collaboration with Dragados Offshore and its initial project with Amprion, while it continues its partnership with TenneT.
