What's Happening?
Velox showcased its latest commercial sensing payloads at the XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 event in Düsseldorf, Germany. The focus of the demonstration was on the Velox EO/IR gimbal, which features 80µrad gyro stabilization to ensure stable, high-resolution
imaging. This technology is designed to address image instability caused by vibration and turbulence during aerial operations. The system integrates thermal imaging capabilities, allowing it to function effectively in low-light and visually degraded environments such as smoke, fog, and dust. The payload is designed for integration with various Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), prioritizing low weight and operational efficiency. Weighing approximately 430 grams, the system supports flight endurance while maintaining sensor capability. It is compatible with multiple sensors, enabling situational awareness and target tracking for applications in inspection, security, and emergency response.
Why It's Important?
The advancements demonstrated by Velox are significant for the UAV industry, particularly in enhancing the reliability and efficiency of aerial data collection. The ability to maintain stable imaging in dynamic flight conditions is crucial for operators who rely on UAVs for critical applications such as security surveillance and emergency response. The integration of thermal imaging further expands the operational capabilities of UAVs, allowing them to perform in challenging environments. This development is likely to drive further innovation in the field of unmanned systems, as manufacturers and end-users seek to leverage these technologies for improved situational awareness and data accuracy. The event also provided a platform for Velox to engage with key stakeholders, including manufacturers and policymakers, to discuss the deployment of sensing technologies in next-generation autonomous platforms.
