What's Happening?
Joanne Gervais Ainsworth has joined the SCV Business and Real Estate Law Firm as 'of counsel'. Ainsworth, originally from the Boston area, relocated to Santa Clarita in 2011. She previously owned and operated the Gervais School of Performing Arts from 2012
to 2023, where she directed performances across Southern California, including at Disneyland and for local animal rescues. Most recently, she served as the executive director of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry. Ainsworth graduated magna cum laude from St. Francis School of Law in August 2025 and passed the California bar exam on her first attempt. She expressed her enthusiasm for joining Carl Kanowsky, Angela Serricchio, and Roger Doumanian at Kanowsky & Associates, where she plans to focus on business, real estate, and animal welfare law.
Why It's Important?
Ainsworth's addition to the SCV Business and Real Estate Law Firm brings a diverse background in arts, community service, and legal expertise, potentially enhancing the firm's capabilities in handling a variety of legal matters. Her experience in managing a performing arts school and a food pantry demonstrates her leadership and commitment to community service, which could translate into a strong advocacy for clients in business and real estate law. Her focus on animal welfare law also introduces a niche area of practice that could attract clients interested in legal issues related to animal rights and welfare. This move could strengthen the firm's position in the Santa Clarita legal market by broadening its service offerings and appealing to a wider client base.
What's Next?
Ainsworth is expected to begin her practice at Kanowsky & Associates, where she will likely start building her client base in business, real estate, and animal welfare law. Her integration into the firm may involve collaborating with existing partners to expand the firm's reach and influence in the Santa Clarita Valley. As she establishes herself in the legal community, Ainsworth may also engage in local community events and initiatives, leveraging her background in the arts and community service to foster relationships and promote the firm's services.
