MGI Tech has partnered with the University of Lisbon to utilize its genomic sequencing technology, the DNBSEQ-G99 platform, in a research initiative focused on the biological impact of Saharan dust on Portuguese
agriculture. This project aims to assess the effects of microorganisms carried by the dust on soil ecology and plant health, particularly in vineyards. The research employs high-sensitivity DNA analysis to map microbial communities in real-time, identifying pathogens and beneficial microbes that could enhance agricultural practices. This collaboration promises to provide valuable insights for viticulturists and agricultural professionals, potentially improving crop yield and quality.
