What's Happening?
The Narayandham Ashram in Bharatpur, Nepal, is utilizing organic asparagus farming to support its operational costs. Managed by Taranath Poudel, the Ashram cultivates asparagus, guavas, and pineapples using organic methods on leased land. The produce
is sold directly from the farm, eliminating the need for external markets. Despite higher costs associated with organic farming, the demand for the Ashram's produce remains strong. The farm relies on manure and cow urine for fertilization, avoiding chemical pesticides. The income generated from asparagus sales helps cover the Ashram's expenses, including providing free meals to residents and visitors.
