Over the past two seasons, he has played in 41 Major League Baseball games, all with the Reds. After being designated for assignment by the Reds in June, Hurtubise was claimed by the Seattle Mariners, then outrighted and released in July. He later signed a minor league deal with the Houston Astros before being released again in September. Known for his speed and baserunning skills, Hurtubise has stolen 130 bases in 153 attempts in his minor league career, while maintaining a .260/.411/.324 batting line over 576 Triple-A plate appearances.
