What's Happening?
The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is inviting applications for new members to join the National Shipper Advisory Committee (NSAC). This federal advisory committee provides insights and expertise on the ocean
freight delivery system to the FMC. The committee advises on policies related to the competitiveness, reliability, integrity, and fairness of the supply chain. NSAC consists of 24 professionals, with equal representation from entities that export and import cargo. The FMC aims to ensure a balanced mix of shippers, considering factors such as commodities shipped, ports used, and geographic areas served.
Why It's Important?
The recruitment of new members for the NSAC is crucial for maintaining a balanced and effective advisory body that can address the evolving challenges in the ocean freight delivery system. As global trade dynamics shift, having a diverse and knowledgeable committee is essential for advising on policies that ensure a competitive and fair supply chain. This initiative reflects the FMC's commitment to adapting to changes in the shipping industry and addressing the needs of both importers and exporters.
