The Sundance Institute, in collaboration with Sandbox Films, has announced the 16 projects and 47 filmmakers receiving support through the 2026 Sundance Institute | Sandbox Fund. This initiative focuses on innovative nonfiction storytelling that explores
the intersection of science and culture. The fund supports projects at various stages, from development to post-production, and includes filmmakers from 11 countries, with a significant portion directed by artists from historically marginalized communities. The fund has doubled its financial support, nearing one million dollars in grants, to bolster the global documentary community. Recent successful projects supported by the fund include 'A Life Illuminated' and 'The Lake'.
