What's Happening?
Carole Boston Weatherford and Frank Morrison have released their sixth children's book together, titled 'Family Feast!'. The book, published by Crown Books for Young Readers, is inspired by family gatherings and the culinary traditions that accompany them. Weatherford and Morrison, who previously collaborated on 'The Roots of Rap', bring their unique backgrounds to this project. Morrison, with a history in hip-hop dancing, contributes illustrations that capture the warmth and chaos of family feasts. The book depicts a day starting with Big Ma and Pops preparing food, followed by relatives arriving to cook, share recipes, and enjoy each other's company. Weatherford notes that the gatherings depicted in the book are not just about food, but also
about love and the expression of familial bonds.
Why It's Important?
The release of 'Family Feast!' highlights the cultural significance of family gatherings and the role of food in fostering connections.
