What's Happening?
Central European Media Enterprises (CME) has joined the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a global coalition aimed at combating piracy. CME operates television stations across Central and Eastern Europe, including countries like Bulgaria,
Croatia, and Romania. The ACE coalition, led by the Motion Picture Association (MPA), includes over 50 media and entertainment companies such as Amazon, Netflix, and Disney. The coalition focuses on legal and lobbying efforts to counter copyright infringement. Klára Brachtlová, CME's deputy CEO, emphasized the importance of safeguarding Europe's creative industries and maintaining the integrity of the audiovisual market.
Why It's Important?
The inclusion of CME in the ACE coalition strengthens the global fight against piracy, which poses a significant threat to the creative industries by undermining revenue and intellectual property rights. By joining forces with major media companies, CME aims to enhance efforts to protect content from piracy networks and support lawful distribution. This collaboration highlights the increasing need for international cooperation to address sophisticated and coordinated piracy threats, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the creative sector.
