The Blue Ridge Music Center and The Bluffs Restaurant are hosting the inaugural Fiddle & Fork Festival this weekend near Galax, Virginia. The event will feature a variety of activities, including broom-making and chair caning demonstrations by master
craftsmen, as well as live music performances. A significant focus of the festival is on Appalachian cuisine, with free food demonstrations and lectures scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Sheri Castle, a food writer and host of the PBS show 'The Key Ingredient,' will serve as the Grand Marshall for Foodways Programming. Castle highlights the distinct nature of mountain food, which thrives in the region's shorter and cooler growing season. The festival will kick off with a meal at The Bluffs Restaurant, emphasizing the unique flavors of the Appalachian region.
