LG Uplus, a South Korean telecom operator, is investing $3.26 billion in AI data centers, aiming to achieve this target by 2030. The company's strategy centers around a 200MW hyperscale facility under
construction in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. This facility is designed to support inference-driven AI workloads, addressing the increasing power consumption and heat generation associated with AI operations. LG Uplus plans to use prefabricated modular construction to expedite deployment and leverage the 'One LG' alliance for advanced technologies. The facility will feature both air and liquid cooling systems and an AI-based data center infrastructure management system to optimize operations.
