What's Happening?
SLB has entered into a three-year agreement with Azule Energy to expand the deployment of its Delfi digital platform across Azule's operations in Angola. This initiative aims to enhance execution efficiency and streamline upstream workflows. Azule Energy,
a joint venture between bp and Eni, is Angola's largest independent producer, managing a portfolio of complex offshore assets. The expanded use of the Delfi platform will integrate subsurface data with planning and execution processes, improving decision-making speed and consistency. Early deployments have shown significant improvements, such as reduced planning cycles and increased automation.
Why It's Important?
This agreement signifies a major step towards digital transformation in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the upstream sector. By adopting cloud-based platforms and AI-enabled tools, companies like Azule Energy can enhance performance, improve reliability, and optimize the development of mature assets. The move reflects a broader industry trend towards digital operations, which can lead to cost savings, increased efficiency, and better resource management. This transformation is crucial for maintaining competitiveness in a rapidly evolving energy market.
