The New York Islanders, in collaboration with Northwell Health, are spotlighting inspiring stories of children battling cancer as part of their Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. This initiative aims to support pediatric cancer patients throughout the season

One such story is that of Charlie Macaluso, a 12-year-old from Long Island who was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in October 2024. Despite the challenges, Charlie remained positive and used his passion for sports, particularly lacrosse, as a source of comfort. His community rallied around him, creating 'FOSO' shirts to support his journey. After completing treatment in May 2025, Charlie was declared cancer-free. In November, he participated in the Islanders' Hockey Fights Cancer game, receiving a personalized locker and merchandise, symbolizing his triumph over cancer.
