What's Happening?
Brand USA is expanding its travel trade Ambassador Program globally, aiming to recruit 250 advisors across its core international markets by July 4, 2026. This expansion coincides with America250, a celebration marking the U.S. bicentennial-plus. The
program, which initially launched as a pilot in Australia and New Zealand in 2025, successfully brought together 12 travel advisors. It focuses on enhancing U.S. destination knowledge, peer mentorship, and knowledge-sharing within the travel trade. Malcolm Smith, SVP Global Markets and chief trade and product development officer at Brand USA, emphasized the program's goal of investing in advisors who can influence their networks. Selected ambassadors will have access to industry events, VIP networking, social media masterclasses, themed webinars, and educational trips across multiple U.S. states.
Why It's Important?
The global expansion of Brand USA's Ambassador Program is significant as it aims to increase international visitation to the United States. By empowering travel advisors with enhanced knowledge and networking opportunities, the program seeks to leverage their influence to boost tourism. This initiative is particularly timely as it aligns with the America250 celebrations, potentially drawing more international attention and visitors. The program's success could lead to increased economic benefits for the U.S. tourism industry, which has been recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel advisors play a crucial role in shaping travel decisions, and their enhanced ability to promote U.S. destinations could lead to a substantial increase in international tourist arrivals.
What's Next?
As the program rolls out globally, applications for the Australia and New Zealand cohort have opened, inviting advisors to apply through Brand USA's Global Ambassador Application site. Advisors are encouraged to submit written or video applications demonstrating their passion for the U.S. and their contributions to the travel trade. The selected ambassadors will begin their roles, participating in various training and networking activities. The program's success in these initial markets could lead to further expansion and adaptation in other regions. Brand USA will likely monitor the program's impact on international visitation and adjust strategies to maximize its effectiveness.
