What's Happening?
GXO, a major logistics provider in the UK, has successfully increased employee engagement with its benefits program through a comprehensive strategy overhaul. In November 2022, GXO identified that its benefits were not being fully utilized by its largely offline workforce. To address this, GXO partnered with Mercer in May 2023 to streamline its benefits offerings and introduced a new mobile-first platform called Darwin in October 2023. This platform centralized all benefits, making them more accessible to employees. Additionally, GXO conducted on-site roadshows and trained line managers to better communicate available benefits. As a result, employee engagement with the benefits program rose from 45% to 79% by December 2025.
Why It's Important?
The increase in employee
engagement with benefits at GXO highlights the importance of accessibility and effective communication in workforce management. By centralizing benefits and improving communication, GXO not only enhanced employee satisfaction but also reduced administrative burdens. This case underscores the potential for other companies to improve employee engagement and satisfaction through similar strategies, particularly those with a dispersed or offline workforce. The success of GXO's approach could influence other organizations to adopt more integrated and accessible benefits systems, potentially leading to higher employee retention and productivity.
What's Next?
GXO plans to continue building on its success by further enhancing its benefits platform. The company is exploring ways to better identify employee needs and link them to specific services, such as mental health support. This ongoing development aims to ensure that employees can easily access the support they need, thereby maintaining high levels of engagement and satisfaction. GXO's future efforts will likely focus on refining its communication strategies and expanding the range of benefits available to employees.
