What's Happening?
Lode Resources has announced the discovery of a new silver-zinc mineralization system at its Montezuma Silver and Antimony Project in Tasmania. This discovery, located within the Maestries carbonate conglomerate unit, is distinct from the existing silver-antimony
fault system. The new system was identified through drill hole MZS42, which intercepted significant mineralization, including 6.40 meters at 6.20% zinc and 43 grams per tonne silver. The characteristics of this mineralization are similar to those found in nearby tin deposits, suggesting a potential expansion of the current 8.2-million-ounce silver equivalent resource. The company plans to conduct further drilling to explore both the existing and new systems more efficiently.
Why It's Important?
The discovery of a new mineralization system at Montezuma could significantly enhance the scale and economic viability of the project. By potentially increasing the resource base, Lode Resources may attract more investment and improve its market position. The ability to test both mineral systems in a single drilling operation could also reduce exploration costs and increase efficiency. This development is crucial for the mining industry, particularly in Tasmania's West Coast Mining Province, known for its rich mineral deposits. The expansion of resources could lead to increased production, job creation, and economic growth in the region.
What's Next?
Lode Resources plans to continue drilling to define the extent of the new silver-zinc system and its relationship with the existing silver-antimony lode. The company is also working on a Scoping Study and Prefeasibility Study to assess the project's potential. These studies will help determine the feasibility of expanding operations and guide future investment decisions. Stakeholders, including investors and local communities, will be closely monitoring the outcomes of these studies and the potential economic benefits they could bring.
