What's Happening?
The Perth Mint has released a special series of commemorative gold and silver coins to mark the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth. Designed by Natasha Muhl, the collection features symbols from key moments of the Queen's reign, including
her first visit to Australia and emblems of royal tradition and Commonwealth unity. Each coin also includes the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse. The limited edition coins became available on April 7, 2026. This release coincides with a period of heightened interest in gold investments, as geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty drive demand for gold exchange-traded funds.
Why It's Important?
The commemorative coin series not only celebrates the historical significance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign but also reflects the ongoing global interest in gold as a safe haven asset. Amidst geopolitical tensions and economic challenges, gold has reinforced its status as a reliable investment, with record allocations to gold ETFs. The Perth Mint's release taps into this demand, offering collectors and investors a unique opportunity to own a piece of history. The coins symbolize the enduring connection between Australia and the Commonwealth, while also highlighting the cultural and economic importance of gold in today's market.
