does not include educational assistance benefits provided under a qualified program, with a tax-free limit of $5,250. This update, effective for taxable years after 2026, adjusts the exclusion amount for cost-of-living increases. Employers are advised not to include these benefits in employees' wages on Form W-2. The IRS also provided a revised sample plan for employers, emphasizing non-discrimination in eligibility criteria. Additionally, educators can claim deductions for unreimbursed expenses, such as classroom supplies and professional development, up to $300, or $600 for joint filers.
