What's Happening?
Zelim's AI-enabled ZOE man-overboard detection system has received ISO 21195:2020 certification from Lloyd's Register, marking it as the first fully certified system capable of detecting both adults and
children. The certification follows successful sea trials on the Ambition vessel, where ZOE achieved a 97% detection rate during simulated tests. The system uses advanced computer vision and video analytics to provide 360-degree surveillance, offering a reliable solution to meet the requirements of The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2010.
Why It's Important?
The certification of ZOE represents a major advancement in maritime safety technology, addressing the long-standing challenge of effectively detecting man-overboard incidents. With its high detection accuracy and low false alarm rate, ZOE offers cruise lines and maritime operators a proven solution to enhance passenger safety. This development could lead to widespread adoption of the technology across the cruise industry and other maritime sectors, potentially setting a new standard for safety protocols.
What's Next?
Following the certification, Zelim plans to focus on securing global uptake of the ZOE technology, targeting the cruise industry and other sectors such as defense. The company aims to make unmanned search and rescue the industry standard, leveraging the system's capabilities to improve safety measures worldwide. As ZOE gains traction, it may influence regulatory changes and encourage further innovation in maritime safety technologies.
