HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from DNV for its new LPG dual-fuel 1,400 TEU container vessel design. This approval was presented at the Posidonia trade fair by Vidar Dolonen, Regional Manager at DNV, to Hongryeul
Ryu, CTO of HHI. The design offers an alternative to LNG as a fuel choice, providing a balance of capital and operating costs with simpler fuel systems. The vessel design includes a forward accommodation arrangement to maximize cargo capacity and ensure crew safety. The LPG storage tank and fuel supply system are strategically placed to optimize cargo handling and reduce risks. The design also incorporates a composite boiler for efficient boil-off gas management.
