What's Happening?
The Piatigorsky Foundation, founded by cellist Evan Drachman, continues its mission to bring free classical music concerts to underserved communities across the U.S. For 36 years, the foundation has provided performances in schools, senior living centers,
churches, and hospitals, reaching over 10,000 people annually. In collaboration with Boise State Public Radio, the foundation is hosting two free concerts in Idaho, one in Garden City and another in Nampa. These events aim to enrich community life by making professional music accessible to those who might not otherwise experience it.
Why It's Important?
The foundation's efforts are vital in promoting cultural enrichment and accessibility to the arts, particularly in rural and underserved areas. By offering free concerts, the Piatigorsky Foundation helps bridge the gap in cultural exposure and education, fostering a greater appreciation for classical music. This initiative supports community cohesion and provides educational opportunities, enhancing the quality of life for residents in these areas.
What's Next?
The foundation will continue its nationwide tour, bringing classical music to more communities. Future collaborations with local organizations and media outlets like Boise State Public Radio will likely expand the reach and impact of these concerts. The foundation's ongoing commitment to accessibility may inspire similar initiatives, encouraging broader support for the arts.
