The Merwin Conservancy on Maui has welcomed Ann Hamilton, an internationally acclaimed visual artist, as their featured artist-in-residence this spring. Hamilton, known for her diverse body of work that spans textiles, sculpture, photography, performance,
language, and video, has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and a MacArthur Fellowship, often referred to as the 'genius grant.' Her art has been displayed in a variety of settings, from museums and parks to skyscrapers and even a New York City subway station. During her residency, Hamilton will engage with the local community and share insights into her creative process. She is scheduled to deliver a public lecture on April 7 at the Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center in Makawao, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about her work and the influence of her time in Hawai‘i.
