What's Happening?
Applied Medical Technology, Inc. has announced the U.S. launch of the Explant Express®, a new device designed to assist in the removal of ruptured breast implants. The device aims to improve the efficiency and safety of explant and revision procedures
by providing suction-assisted retrieval of ruptured implants. This innovation addresses the challenges associated with traditional removal methods, which can be time-consuming and increase the risk of silicone gel spreading. The Explant Express® is compatible with standard operating room suction systems and features an ergonomic design to enhance control during procedures. It is now available to plastic and reconstructive surgeons across the United States.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the Explant Express® is significant for the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, as it offers a more efficient and controlled method for removing ruptured breast implants. This can lead to improved surgical outcomes and reduced risk of complications, benefiting both surgeons and patients. The device's ability to contain silicone gel and shell during removal is particularly important, as it minimizes the risk of contamination and potential health issues. This innovation reflects the ongoing advancements in medical technology aimed at enhancing patient care and surgical efficiency. It also highlights the importance of addressing procedural challenges in medical practice to improve overall healthcare delivery.
