What's Happening?
InCoax Networks AB has introduced the InCoax Fiber Extension, a new solution designed to simplify fiber installation and expedite customer activation in single-family homes and smaller apartment buildings in the U.S. This development comes in response
to the growing demand for efficient fiber deployment, as the U.S. fiber market has seen a record number of new homes connected. The Fiber Broadband Association reports that in 2025, 11.8 million new homes were passed, bringing the total to 98.3 million FTTH passings. The InCoax Fiber Extension leverages existing coaxial cabling to extend fiber connections from the ONT location to a more suitable Residential Gateway location, reducing the need for new in-home cabling.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the InCoax Fiber Extension is significant for the U.S. fiber market, which is rapidly expanding to meet the increasing demand for high-speed internet. By simplifying the installation process and reducing costs, this solution can accelerate the adoption of fiber technology in more households. This is crucial as fiber now passes over 60% of U.S. households, and the market is nearing 100 million FTTH passings. The ability to efficiently convert these passings into active connections can enhance internet accessibility and performance, benefiting consumers and service providers alike.
What's Next?
As the U.S. fiber market continues to grow, the focus will likely remain on improving installation efficiency and customer activation rates. Fiber operators may increasingly adopt solutions like the InCoax Fiber Extension to address in-home installation challenges. This could lead to further innovations in fiber technology and deployment strategies, potentially influencing market competition and pricing. Additionally, as more homes become fiber-ready, there may be increased demand for advanced internet services and applications, driving further technological advancements.
